Strike out on own – the Obama’s

portraitsamericanpresidents themotor 1|The Obama’s ignored tradition with their portrayers choice. The wonderful ethnic portraits are created by the first black artists to be commissioned by the National Portrait Gallery in America. The Obama’s are both portrayed as thinkers, Michele in the same pose as Barack’s hero Lincoln. The flowers surrounding the tieless Obama are chrysanthemums from Chicago, jasmine as a symbol for Hawaii and African blue lilies. Michelle’s dress is by Milly and refers to quilts made by African-American women. Very graphic, love it! Art Kehinde Wiley and Amy Sherald
